Stellenbosch University’s Letting Office facilitates commercial partnership to aid students in need

For many students, the financial strain of tuition fees is a constant challenge. Despite various financial aid opportunities, a significant number of students still cannot cover the costs of their education.

Recognising an opportunity for collaboration that can benefit students, the Letting Office at Stellenbosch University (SU), facilitated a partnership between OK Urban Tygerberg and Mentos to launch a competition that will put a total of R60 000 towards the tuition fees of selected students at Tygerberg Campus.

The Letting Office is responsible for managing SU commercial spaces, including the Neelsie and Tygerberg Student Centre, allowing them to work closely with commercial brands and business partners.” We are constantly seeking ways to turn these relationships into opportunities, not just for commerce, but to positively impact and influence student life on campus,” says Faizel Moos, manager of SU’s Letting Office

Moos said the Letting Office, as part of SUNCOM and the broader Innovation and Commercialisation Division, plays a crucial role in connecting businesses with the university community, identifying opportunities that can enhance student life and strategically managing that relationship. “Our latest collaboration with Mentos and OK Urban Tygerberg is a perfect example of how they facilitate partnerships that have a direct financial and social impact.”

The competition was held until the 19th of March and a total of ten students received R10 000 towards their tuition fees.
