Innovus TTO welcomes Anne Chisa as a Technology Transfer Officer

Stellenbosch University’s (SU) Innovus Technology Transfer Office welcomes Anne Chisa as a Technology Transfer Officer, effective 1 December 2025. Anne brings a unique blend of research experience and communication expertise to the team.

Anne holds a PhD in Crop Science and a master’s degree in Agricultural Science from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Her doctoral research strengthened her understanding of how innovative research can address food security challenges. In 2020, Anne founded The Root of Science Podcast, a platform dedicated to amplifying African researchers and innovators in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields, showcasing diverse scientific career paths. Through this work, she has become a recognised award-winning science communicator both nationally and internationally.

Outside her professional life, Anne enjoys cooking, which is something she sees has become a creative outlet and a way to bring people she cares about together.

In her new role at Innovus, Anne will apply her passion for knowledge transfer to support SU researchers, students and staff members who wish to commercialise their research outputs or inventions.

“I’m looking forward to contributing to a team known for excellence in research commercialisation and innovation. I’m excited to bring together my scientific background, communication strengths and passion for knowledge transfer, to support researchers on their innovation journey. Most of all, I’m looking forward to collaborating with SU researchers and helping ensure their work reaches the communities, industries, and stakeholders it is meant to serve,” said Anne.

The Innovation and Commercialisation Division looks forward to her contributions and to the many successes ahead into working together to support innovation and excellence at SU.
