The Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden (SUBG) Gift Shop, situated inside the Botanical Garden itself, has taken a step into the digital space with the launch of its new e-commerce store. The online store offers patrons the opportunity to support conservation while bringing a piece of the Garden home, wherever they may be in the world.

The launch of the online store arrives at a poignant moment for the Garden community. The home page carries a tribute to the late Dr Donovan Kirkwood, Curator of the Botanical Garden, who tragically passed away earlier this year during a conservation expedition. His life’s work was rooted in protecting biodiversity, in conservation and connecting people to the living landscapes of the Western Cape. Carrying this vision forward, each online purchase directly supports the Garden’s research and conservation projects.

At the heart of the Gift Shop, both online and physical, is the Marloth Collection which honours Dr Rudolph Marloth (1855–1931), one of the Cape’s foremost early botanists and author of the influential Flora of South Africa.

Beyond the Marloth Collection, visitors will discover a range of thoughtfully curated products. Locally inspired homeware, customised gifts, books, plants, and wellness items are among the many products available for purchase. Each item reflects a commitment to sustainability and to celebrating the region’s rich natural heritage.
